Metal detecter under D4 to detect screws

So .... some idiot is deliberately spiking the tyres of my D4 with screws - I've had to have three punctures repaired in the last 6 months, and the Police are now involved.

We're going to have to install security cameras but I'm wondering if a metal detector would pick up a screw wedged under a tyre if it's got 2.4 tonnes of metal sitting above it? Anyone with experience with metal detectors who could proffer an opinion?

    thanks

    D.

No. It’ll pick up the wire in the belts.

You reverse out your driveway? If so, just roll forward a little before reversing. They should fall over and not pierce.

Kids at the local school were using tek screws screwed through plastic milk bottle tops to hold the screw upright.

They were not that smart, they forgot about the security cameras.

So someone could be doing something similar, the piece of whatever the screw is screwed through to hold it upright may get worn away before the tyre goes flat.

    That'd make sense.

    That's the problem - we don't have off-street parking.

I suspect this is just screws, since I've found at least one that got stuck in the tread and didn't penetrate the tyre.

We had three punctures on left rear on all three Defenders over about a six month period. We live in the country on dirt roads and the vehicles park in a shed a long way from the public road.

Just had to put it down to bad luck

Bloody tradies and their trayback utes.

Tek screws fall out. I've had a few punctures like that. I always check my driveway after I've had tradies in.

Unfortunately, when screws are dropped on the ground they don't typically fall just one of each precisely under the middle of the left front and right rear tyres. And no other vehicle parking near our house has picked up a screw, not even my wife's car parked immediately behind me. And in any case there's no tradies parking where we park.

Edit: and looking at when these punctures occurred they're suspiciously regular - I think the psycho responsible for this has a reminder set in his calendar.

Mine your driveway with drawing pins, then when psycho kneels down to plant the next tekscrew he will get some of his own back.

or wire an IR light switch to turn on some garden sprinklers
