I was going to reply earlier, but got busy.
You don't have Yokahama tyres fitted by chance, do you?
I had them on my D1 for a good few years, and simply got fed up with their attraction to screws and nails, I think mainly from, but not limited too, my driveway.
Worst tyre I've ever had in terms of 'durability'. they wore well(ie. tread depth) .. but Geezuz, were they weak as the proverbial bodily fluid!
I lost count, but in about 3 or 4 years and not al that many klms(maybe 60-ish K klms) I reckon I copped more than 20 deflation events.... all nails or screws.
I still live at the same place and have spent more time in the driveway with the recent lockdown periods ... and the new cheapo Chinesium 10 plys hadn't had any metallic intrusions until just a week or so ago.
Was a doozy too.. nice large headed roofing nail. Where from, no idea.
I've now been on the 10 plys longer than I was on the short lived Yokos' and I reckon my local tyre place may have gone out of business now!
For magnetic nail pickups devices ... nothing beats the good old junked speaker magnet magnetically attached to a steel stick! I used to do it all the time on the driveway and the shed, which also picks up the dusty flotsam after welding and grinding something. I used to just sweep it, but found it's too dusty and probably not good to be inhaling it as you clean it up.
Many years ago brother had a dead viscous fan in his car and we were camped on some thick(not tall, just very lush) grass. Of course we lost one of the nuts that hold the hub to the spindle, and trying to find it was high on impossible.
Builder brother in law, who informed us of the speaker magnet sweeper idea, used to do it all the time on his jobs after a day or so ... found the nut in a few seconds!
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
