New road rules- can we still use our CB's ?

There was a case here in the Hawkesbury early last year where a highway patrol vehicle left the road at considerable speed (70km zone, rural area) on a sweeping bend apparently on its way to some incident in the early hours of the morning without lights and sirens. The vehicle was totaled, the driver ended up in hospital with a broken arm and apparently was disciplined as it transpired there was no incident and therefore no reason for his actions. Even at excessive speed a relatively easy bend (positive camber) so either he was a crap driver or was distracted maybe by his phone ;-)

A length of fence and gate that he demolished still has not been replaced, has temporary fencing. I pass it everyday on my way into town.

Exactly, clearly noone in this episode!

Training is important and practicing in real life rather than on the track is required. Unfortunately it can and probably will go wrong at some point

A while ago there was a major ‘police incident’ on the M6 motor way. It was just such a high speed training exercise with unmarked cars at speed in real traffic that had gone wrong. Road was closed for a few hours while they cleaned up the resulting mess

Save money and lives don't use ya phone , Black and White id think i've not used my phone in the car or truck for longer than i can remember and have never used a phone on the bike .

As for the UHF i'll continue to use that in the truck and cross that bridge when and if i get pinged , As for the Uhf in the car , That is mostly used when off road in the bush and very rarely when and if i'm stuck behind a truck or on the Hwy with the van in tow in the car .

In saying all this i wonder if Chairman Dan will get sneaky like NSW and mount his flash bang cameras on the road work traffic lights out the middle of nowhere or in suburbia .

Anyone notice new cameras mounted on the Calder fwy near Sunbury/ Gisborne , I'm guessing these are the new weapons of choice fairly easy to pick [bigwhistle]

Like I said, " screen aside". Formerly a "professional" as well, which merely means I did it for a living. Last truck I drove had astonishing Bluetooth, and a mic built into the seat. Phone controlled by button on the wheel. No looking involved.

I think that any comms. radio chat would be far shorter and more concise than any 'phone palaver.

Phone in cradle,many can use it without even looking at it as well,that is if you are not reading something on the screen.

Proving what has actually been done after the fact would be pretty difficult for the copper in many instances.

So the rules are going to be difficult to police accurately anyway.
