Ah, the days most pubs were tied to a brewery. XXXX hotels were far more prevalent and popular, than Carlton, in Queensland.

I realise you were referring to bush chook. Same but different : My grandmother was a "Swan Gold" drinker from way back. Years after it stopped being "created" (however they did it), she was over and asked for a "can of Gold". We pointed out it had been out of circulation for years and she pointed out we still "had a carton on the shelf in the garage". She was right. I duly put 6 in the freezer and when they were cold enough opened one to scrape out the yoghurt into a glass. Oddly enough after witnessing this she wasn't that thirsty and would settle for whatever amber fluid we happened to have that didn't need to be served with a fork.

I dunno how they made that stuff, but "brewing" isn't a term I'd use.

I'm not sure I'd class anything that came from the Swan brewery as "beer". More a chemical cocktail that was supposed to resemble "beer".

Or Macs, bottled directly from the Fitzroy River. Then there's Gulf Lager, all the slops from Milton, bottled and labeled Gulf.
