JT, Lake Moogerah is only 25mins from Boonah. You could have a flick for some Bass whilst testing.
Just a thought, too. Make sure that the fuel line, filters and primer bulb are OK.

Yep if sitting for a long time new fuel lines and a wash out of the tank would be a good idea. One of the common stoppages on a 2 stroke outboard is air getting into the fuel system. So have good hose clamps claped up tight but also leave the breather on the tank open to ensure no vacuum build up as that will stop you or stop full throttle at least. Cheers
A 60hp Mercury on a boat we had when I was a kid caused more than a few choice words John[bigrolf] I think everyone was most happy when that boat was sold with the motor.
Fixing a old motor can be fun of course- NOT to be taken too far off shore in my books. Add the 2 stroke fumes are a pita if the wind is wrong. [bigwhistle]
Hmmmm. Thanks for the wisdom folks. I guess I need to get up there and assess. No rush ( well, not much,). If I do this it'll be a bit of a love job. Oh, there'll be $$$ for bits, but it does sound like a bit of a fine line as to whether it's worth the effort.
So once again, thanks.
75 HP Red Band Merc it seems. Possibly a shaft broken in the drive. Just what I'm told. Still unseen.

Not sure these help[bigrolf]
Looks like the appropriate course of treatment would be for it to break the mounting bolts and jump off the back of the boat.
