From what I can find they are actually in a pretty strong financial position globally - Australian figures won't make them lose any sleep given it's such a tiny market for them. Can't find any real year on year figures though without spending more time than I want to on it but if you have something let me know.Quote:

I would suggest they have done nothing but improve upon that in each vehicle.
All modern versions are:
- safer
- more comfortable
- more versatile (this one is harder to quantify)
Versatile is a tough one. Statistically an increase in this can mean disappointment for others.
A modern Defender for example.
- move 6-7 people in full comfort
- handles like a modern car on road
- capable of most offroad (beyond extremes where people are modifying beyond stock anyway)
- can carry a decent load (if you choose to throw a mess in the back is up to you)
Softer lines seem to shock everyone here to some extent (you must all love 80s Volvos!)
Sure Ineos has done something boxy, it’s a low volume producer and has exemptions for our market for example. LR is not, it needs market share to drive.
You're not suggesting they should build modern cars are you? That'll never work.
I listened to a Richard Porter podcast this morning (I won't link to it as it probably contained some naughty words). He actually rang the PR department to find out what was happening.
Sounds like the press release was just a badly communicated bit of marketing rubbish. Seems the Land Rover name is not going anywhere, they are just trying to put more emphasis on the "brands" of Range Rover, Discovery and Defender.
Remember, it quoted McGovern extensively. Need I say more.
Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
The change from Great Wall Motors to GWM possibly helped the public forget the bad press.
LDV from Leyland Daf Vans and you forget the Leyland bad press.
So changing from Jaguar Land Rover to JLR might do the same ??
