Hello All,
I suppose I could add - 'there are no guarantees in life and fair does not always find favour.' My starting of the thread was probably founded on my current work contract running out with this financial year. I hope my being the 'second type of worker' that I previously mentioned, finds some degree of favour with my employer in the new financial year, when new work contracts are offered. Fingers crossed - however, there are no guarantees!

Well a bit of an update. I found out today that my contract as an Individual Advocate will not be renewed. I am now officially on annual leave for the next three weeks. I have been unofficially informed that there may be some options for some casual work upon my return home in July. One option could be casual work in advocacy again. I decided to close the door on that option and hold onto to a possible opportunity in a 'high duties' role where I could use my PhD gained knowledge more. I may be shooting myself in the foot by knocking back the casual advocacy role. However, I reckon that the door on that option should be closed for me. Been there done that, and I have a couple of T-shirts in the wardrobe.
Plus, I have that wellbeing consultancy website and domain that I have neglected working on since September last year. They reckon when one door closes another door opens. I am 60 years old with a now 1 year old PhD - no worries Lionel ... tee-hee. I did gain getting power to my 15 years old in August shed as a memento of my current... oopsy last contract. I can teach myself to weld in my shed with 20 amp circuits and bright lights while I work on the International van - now with the amount of rust in Bluey it will keep me busy for a loooonnnnng loonnnggg time :0)

May not be G rated but using a gantry crane 20 or 30 times a day rigging and lifting generators weighing anywhere from 700kg to 25,000kg my Boss told me on day 1 - ‘Don’t put your fingers where you wouldn’t put your Willy’ or words to that effect.

One of the things I remember my dad saying, "You've got to paddle your own canoe".
I'm not sure if I heard it or made it up, but "I won't ask anyone to do anything I can't or won't do" when I was foreman/supervisor/business owner.
Another one of my dad's, "clean up as you go" meaning clean up where possible during a job, not wait till the end to have a lot to clean.

As a kid I was the gopher at a cabinet makers factory.
The word was always leave the clients site spotlessly clean after installation, no dust, shavings or mess.
