Not a marshal this year so can be a spectator for a change. Have a good day for it with an expected maximum of about 20 c. This is of course considered to be very hot with a risk to life so extra first aid precautions required for participants
The Knaresborough Bed Race race has been a yearly event since the sixties. Starts off as a parade of floats that are dressed to the theme of the year. This year being - That’s entertainment. Once the parade is over the floats are stripped down to the bed frame. This is then pushed by the team with a passenger in the bed over a course of about 2.5 miles which includes a steep climb out of the gorge. Finishing with pushing the bed and passenger over the river to the finish line
When I say river in the UK all water ways are called river even if you could step across it with no danger of getting your feet wet. There is no danger of navigating the bed through shipping. There is no comparable word for creek. The river here is really a wide creek
