5door Jimny!

Bring back the tray back Drover they were brilliant on the farm. Today equivalent being one of those John Deer Gator things which are just not the same

Came across one of the Suzukis near Bamaga in the mid eighties. Poor thing had expired on the track and appeared overloaded. When talking to the driver was told had been careful to pack only the minimum required for the trip. Everyone’s idea of minimal differs I suppose but had to wonder about the golf clubs in a wheeled trolley loaded at the top

1.5L VVT with 10 to 1 comp..
5 speed with 1st at 4.425 and 5th at 1-1

I like it. I also like the 3 door version too. If I had the money for a new car it would be one of these.

Wrote off my 2008 110 in a river. Last year.. Couldn't afford to replace it as so expensive in NZ I got $30k more than I paid in 2009 and would have needed another. $ 25k minimum to even get close to what I had. I got a 2022 Jimny with warn winch bull bar ARB bash plates side rails diff guards recovery points and double ARB diff lockers for $38k and spent another $2k and it's real weapon as stated asthmatic engine especially on road.. you have to rev it to get the torque etc off road but with diff locks I can take it 90% of places I did before,I only ignore river beds with big rocks and deeper water areas. I can sleep inside it if required ,you learn to minimise your gear a bit and it's great. Very good value for the money and absolutely no problems yet after some fairly tough off roading... My cousin had a older Jimny 413 which was bulletproof compared to my older defender.

There's a guy in our Suzuki Club that sells Reduction Gears for these Jimny's. It's one of the best mods u can do when u have such a small sized engine...

Yes, a mate had one of the two strokes. They were fun but the later Sierras reputedly tipped over on corrugations. Great on beaches and sand though.

We have a friend who does just that with the 3 door. They _love_ it. SFA to tow and gives them the "go anywhere" day trip ability. Big "**** off large" motor home towing the tin can for exploration. They love it. The cat travels in the Jimny.

If I didn't have to keep a "safety fund" for D3 repairs, I'd probably get one just for the fun factor. But then I always wanted a Mighty Boy with a ZZR 1400 donk in it.

I saw a similar comparo shoot out of Jimny vs Troopy and it went everywhere the Troopy did except up a steep slope with moguls, I thought it was going to go up there like a rat up a drainpipe, but like you said I think the articulation and lower torque stopped it. However, with a winch even that wouldn't be a problem.

Like anything... with a few mods it would make it very capable 4wd... Reduction gears would be high on the list of To-Dos to help with the small engine
