It's a 'Domestic' thing. I recently had my hearing tested, with no issues arising. The test doesn't go as far as 'Domestic Deafness', apparently.

Yes, at my height of 185 cm I do hold the objects to be cleaned out of the water and scrub them. The scrubbed items are then dunked under the water a couple of times before putting them on the drying rack.

Ah, another bloke that hand washes dishes. My late wife and I have always just washed them in the soapy water then dunked in the same water then into the rack to dry. Had a bloke round for a feed the other night and he said I should rinse them in fresh water. What for? Hasnt seemed to hurt us, and being on tank water dont like to waste it.
Just measured our bench height. Its 880mm. I am over 6 ft and my wife was 5 ft so I guess it was a compromise. She designed the house but I like others would like it a bit higher.

I was taught (at Uni) that the optimum lowest working surface height is the height from the floor to the bottom of your hands when your arms are by your side and your hands are turned horizontally pointing away from you (palm height above the floor). This avoids bending. So in my case the lowest bottom of the sink height should be 870 above the floor but with benches being normally 900 high and sinks being about 200 deep I try to avoid washing up.[bigwhistle]

IMO if you're washing stuff at the bottom of the sink the water isn't hot enough....[bigwhistle]
