I was one of the crew on the Madigan Line crossing in August that DieselLSE referred to you. The D4 went extremely well; reliable, capable and comfortable. A total of 6,600kms.
Yes, as others have said, my D4 is well maintained. In addition, I have replaced some parts based on predictive, time-based maintenance, rather than waiting for problematic symptoms to appear. I did not buy this vehicle because I was looking for a "low budget" approach to comfortable 4WD touring.
However, with regard to the budget, one item that has really remained with me from the trip, is how impressive the D4 fuel economy was on the desert leg. Just 16.5 L/100km with many, many sand dunes crossed. For an expedition laden D4, with 190 litres of fuel on board and enough water for a week, this is great economy.
Given a service and a thorough check over, I would happily load up the D4 and set off on an expedition tomorrow.

Mine may be up for sale but it'll still get maintained as it has been since purchased new. That of course means decent servicing by an independent plus myself in between times and whatever is recommended on here. We're using it still as I don't like a vehicle to be left standing without those wheels turning for too long.
New batteries on constant charge with the C-Tek and a big job planned for the near future. If buyers don't want to pay a 'reasonable price' for a well maintained vehicle, it doesn't bother me and we'll keep it for as long as it takes, like we did the Puma when selling it.
I'm certainly not flogging it to the trade at their insulting prices just for them to tart it up and stick 20K on it...
