I gargle a bit of Whiskey or Whisky (depending on what's in the cupboard). Decent swig from the bottle, gargle and swallow. That lets the stomach acid take care of any nasties the gargle collected on the way past (that's my story and I'm sticking to it).
That particular drink generally has 100% more Alcohol than Listerine. If some is good, more must be better and if it burns it's doing good.
