I overnighted in hospital a few years ago. They came round in the morning with the food order form. Said was leaving and did not want anything. Told to order lunch, dinner and breakfast as if I did not the next person to occupy the bed would not be fed. Hope that who ever it was liked my choices. And no steak was not on offer

    Hi,
Working in the local hospital for some 40 odd years, I saw the food go from chef quality 3 course meals on China plates to boxes of industrial fodder that had no appeal.
All this while Admin and HR moved at least 3 times from 1960's public service office space to lush carpet, smoked glass with blackwood fittings and magnificent city views.
    Cheers

I have discovered a whole new level of bureaucracy. I am currently in a ward in Maroondah Hospital. I was supposed to attend an oncology appointment this morning, also at Maroondah Hospital, three floors and 100 metres away. Surgeons, doctors and nurses are all fine with me going down there and would even have provided a wheelchair. Oh no you don’t they said. Apparently I can’t be an inpatient and outpatient at the same time.

No, but I'm guessing you can be an inpatient and impatient at the same time..

    Hope it goes well.

You can also probably be an outpatient, and impatient at the same time.

My wife assures me that you can be an inpatient and outpatient at the same time at North East Health Wangaratta.

Not that helps you at all.

All the best with it John.

When I was hospitalised with a broken neck, I was strapped to a fibreglass board and collared. They delivered my food on a tray and placed it on a table over my chest. I couldn't see it and found it very difficult to manipulate into my mouth. I'm sure the cruelty of that was unintended as I could see no video camera anywhere.
    Cheers, Billy.
    Keeping it simple is complicated.
