Inspector Morse will be turning in his grave.
True. But the generally accepted practice is for the concept to generate excitement for the brand, not to completely alienate the entire existing customer base. Of course, it could be argued that Jaguar no longer has one of those, as their offerings for the last decade have been wholly forgettable. Nobody will be forgetting this "concept", as much as they may want to. Investors are definitely not going to forget the freefall of JLR's stock prices.
And remember, this was not merely a "concept", if Jaguar's press releases are to be believed. This is the new direction. Down.
Choosing a massive consumer purchase based on who supported who in an election is beyond stupid. However, if such things are important to some, I'd suggest that, given the election results, Mr Musk's popularity is increasing, not diminishing. I guess we'll see if the Hollywood elites buy the Jag over the Tesla. Nobody else cares.
Absolutely! ohhh JLR seem to miss the boat and the market with everything they do.
Polar opposite is the Volvo advert and for a laugh watch the Bud light adverts now, while not an apology it is an admission to how much they screwed up.
These total idiot companies in their own little bubble of life.
I would argue that there are not many concept cars in the last decade, that were liked when first shown. The only one I can think of is the Hyundai delorean-esque car. All other concept cars released have been hated on for being too futuristic or wild. I would also bet the Jag one will never make it to production
Would you put it past a potential tesla/EV owner to choose a purchase based on politics? I sure wouldn't [wink11]. I agree, Elon's popularity is increasing, but by the Diesel/truck/'redneck' markets, not the EV/sustainability markets. I for one think JLR are in with a chance if they can deliver a premium EV range that is on par if not cheaper than Tesla's current range. At this stage, the elites are still buying maybach's, and most Tesla owners are just upper-middle class.
