Had a look at your site Noddy, some great shots there, love the colour saturation. I'm sure they look even better blown up.
I hear alot of great things about both of those lenses especially the 85. It's amazing what a good fast lens can do for your photography.

I have also been playing around with panoramic shots and created this one earlier this year from 7 photos using a really simple stitching program.

P.S. I got my lenses mixed up earlier I can't tell my sigmas from my voigtlanders, the sigma lens is a 30 1.4 and it's brilliant. If your in the market for a standard fast lens you can't go past it.
What was the simple stitching program? I have some pics I'd like to stitch together and can't get a good look with the software I've been using. Maybe I'm just crap at it!!Quote:

I used a program which came with my wifes point and shoot digital camera, it's called Canon PhotoStitch. It's really simple to use and does a good job.
There's a photo club in the Czech Republic that has version 3.1 for PC posted on their Web site. Make sure you scan it for viruses before you open it though. I'm unsure if it works since I used the version on the CD.

Thanks for the link and the tip. Never thought to look at the software that came with my camera. Maybe there's a utility in amongst it. I'll check it out and if I can get a satisfactory result I'll post it on the forum.Quote:

My first camera was a Voigtlander which I inherited from my parents. They picked it up 2nd hand when they were in Europe, so it must be a late-50s;) Still produces amazing pics.

Not much PP at all. They were all taken with Kodak Tri-x and I developed them using Agfa Rodinal. I then scanned the negs and pretty much just adjusted the levels to suit.
I love the grain, it's something I really miss when shooting digital. I have tried to reproduce the grain in some of my digital shots with PS filters but it's never the same, so now whenever I want to shoot something specifically in B&W I still use film.
For me the voigtlander style cameras (rangefinders) really simplify photography, even though they have some major drawbacks. When shooting with my Konica Hexar RF I find I rarely miss a shot, however when using the D70 I can get caught up with all of the options it gives you. Sometimes it's nice to just concentrate on the photo and not the camera. Obviously an SLR is a much better all round camera system though.
I'd be interested to hear what you find to be the biggest real world improvements of the D200 over the D70.
The great thing I love about good SLRs is that you can over-ride most of the features/technology so you can get back to the simple things. 90% of my shots are in manual with shutter/ap priority for the others.
It is annoying how photography has been made into this mysterious art by all the 'auto' functions on most cameras.
D200 vs D70....just a better camera. Feels brillant, better made and balanced perfectly. 5fps vs 3fps, big difference when shooting sports. Other little things; RGB histogram is very useful, bigger viewfinder and display screen is nice. Does not have all the 'auto' options which get in the way. Menu system is simpler and more intuitive.
Downsides of the D200? Heavier, poorer battery performance. I have not found noise to be an issue yet, but its higher ISO peformance is meant to be so-so.
I still have my D70 as a back-up, while I love it to death and would never part with it, I never think twice about picking up the D200. It is just a really well made tool.:D
