The Isotherm can't go in the freezer. Although the freezer doesn't freeze as well as we would like, for the short term that we use the caravan this is not a major problem.
My issue is the fridge. If it went in the freezer there would be no improvement in the fridge. Also the freezer size is borderline for our requirements, so this would reduce its size.
The Isotherm has a separate thermostat that can be mounted in the fridge or external.
As for being a lot of money, yes it is, but I am prepared to spend it for a good result.
However, after reading all the contributions here, as well as doing more searching I have changed tack.
As I mentioned earlier that to fit any other fridge would require a lot of cabinet and couch modifications.
After finding the perfect compressor fridge for our needs, I have decided to go this way. I figure the caravan mods won't be much more work than fitting the Isotherm.
By going this way I get a bigger freezer. Not a cheap fridge, but if it does the job, and I am sure that it will, I can wear the cost. It is rated to 43 degrees and has a fairly modest current draw.
The POS fridge that is coming out almost cost the same 11 years ago.
190L Caravan Fridge & Freezer (12/24V) - Bushman DC190L
I did not pay the RRP. I did get a reasonable deal. And you wouldn't believe it. The fridge is 10mm too wide to fit through the door, so I will remove a window.
EDIT. I was just re-reading this thread and I noticed that Pedro has a Bushman and rekons it is superior. This reinforces my decision.
