is the dizzy cap or rotor gap okay?
been hobbled by that before...
Heres one for you, why it happened and how it happened still has me stumped.
Customer 1 car 2.25p wont fire, diganosed as weak spark fault found that to the condensor. Good healthy spark from the coil, about 2cm and blue but it wont run, so new leads and plugs, still wont go.
out of frustration swapped the leads plugs and coil with another customers car and customer 2s vehicle goes but customer 1s car wont go although it tried to fire.
any combination of new or second hand parts works on customer 2s car and at the end the only way I could get customer 1s vehicle to run was to have this configuraion
the original coil from customer 1s vehicle, the new condensor, the new plugs with the original old leads from customer 1s car.
So far as I can tell, the condensers coils and leads are all the same (not resistive plugs or leads, same voltage coil, and the timing is within a degree of each other)
I like that its now fixed and running, I dont like that I dont know why.
any guesses?

I'm guessing not a single fault but a culmination of old worn parts resulting in poor ignition spark.

Got me stumped, but one possibility is an intermittent fault, that "fixed" itself.
Possible candidates for this would be :-
Ignition switch high resistance for coil contact when in the start position
Broken earth link to breaker plate
Poor/intermittent engine to chassis earth link

new dizzy cap and rotor, checked them and changed them onto customer 2's car.
Maybe the switch but it wouldnt run when I was diagnosing with the ignition on and trying to start it my manually running the solenoid for the starter. It also wouldnt start or run when i had the coil hotwired directly to the battery, its a new battery and I had a charger and jump pack hooked up just to make sure.
Earth for the points and condensor was good to the engine block and back to the battery
Engine is linked directly to battery earth as is the body and chassis earth.
Appreciate the responses,
Dave
