    Thats exactly right!
    What else would you expect.
They are just trying to sell something!
Trust none of them and don't talk to them unless you have already decided to buy it.
I thought this was all just common sense. but then again there is nothing common about sense.

When I bought mine there were very few for sale second hand privately.

I resorted to the Car Yard...the bloke was a creep...in fact I think it was his surname...tried to sell me a V8 Discovery .

After the deal was done I felt grubby.

Yep look what they did to my beastie. #$%^#$ the head and quickly stuck it all back together. With enough crap to make it last the waranty period.
I have seen the oposite though. Friend bought a car that the dealer claimed needed a new engine as it was seized. Friend put oil in it and we towed it out. On the way home he tried to tow start it to see what would happen. Wow it started and went for 3 years before he got rid of it.

A better word would be 'tainted'.
The only other more soul destroying experience than coming in contact with Used Car Salesmen is Real Estate Agents.

    A blight on them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a school aquaintance who has been running a Prestige Yard for over 25 years selling Black Mercs and the odd RR. I dropped in to say hello one day...his interest extended to "do you see any of the old boys...if you, do tell them I have a few man traps here"

I was considering buying a car once and was working with this salesman... who was ok. Anyway with me this process can take some time. I went back there and all the people said sorry... Fred has retired to work on his boat.

I went to the next Ford dealership in town and there he was ... LOL

They're all bad & there are plenty of good real estate agents out there too.

But yeah, there are a few sharks.
When we were looking for a Disco, (2 Disco's back), we saw this average 95 V8, very dirty, tatty interior, but cheap price at a dodgy place in Moorooka.
Wanted to go for a test drive, so the salesman just said he'd just go the servo and put some fuel in it, then I can drive. We go to the servo, he puts some fuel in.
It seemed to run rough on the way, then even worse on the way back. There was surging, spluttering, engine rattle and driveline shudder.
"Mate, this things no good" I said
Nah, it's just the fuel from the servo, they said there tanks were low, etc, etc, bS*t etc.
    I dont think so mate.
Then just as we're approaching my car, which was parked up the street, he says well, the boss took it camping up the beach on the weekend and he said it went great.
Can you pull over here for a minute? he does, and I said thanks mate, see you later, got out and walked away
