It's not actually a flat rear floor - the Paris motorshow photos don't show it as clearly as the original Landrover press release ones from a few weeks back (see below). The rear seats sit on the wheel arch boxes and hang out over the lower centre floor section. The carpet in the display one hides the step in the floor somewhat.Originally Posted by CraigE

Doesnt look to bad to me, i would still prefer the TD5 though. I wonder why they went with the transit engine instead of the 2.7L enlarged capacity version of the 2.2L Mondeo engine. Seems like a step back with that engine. They would have been better off holding back on the release and getting the TDV6 in there. Matt

I will just have to see how easy it is to pull all that extra seat crap out so I can fit my camping gear in.Originally Posted by solmanic

But apart from that if we 'regress into simplicity', I for one will be very happy.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
From memory they cannot fit airbags because the firewall would need to be strengthened and that meant a complete re-design. They faced this problem back in the late '90s when they were forced to stop selling the NAS90 in the US because of the need to fit airbags.
I just want the bonnet. LRA should just ship a couple of containers of bonnets and some of those swanky seats and that would do us all. Forget the rest of the car and THAT engine![]()

I reckon that would be right, i cant really see that engine competing with a TD5, let alone a chipped one. Seems like a step back in the engine department and a step forward on the interior department. How long do we have to wait for a step forward in all departments. All this kinda tells me that Land Rover doesnt really care to much about the fender and is really only keeping it because of its heritage and iconic status. MattOriginally Posted by noddy
