The book says they use steel treks, the 12 ply ones... and having seen some of the ones they do use, if theýre steel trks then Im the pope.
The dunlop triple track is pretty close.
The 3 gang tubes on the front are smoke grenade launchers
they fire (depending on size) a 40mm, 65mm or 80mm grenade between 30 and 120m (again depending on size and angle) in a gang of 3 providing an effective screen for quick retreats.
If I knew what a pinky and a dinky was I;d be thrilled.Quote:

These are what the SAS call pinkys, name came from when the S2 SAS landies first came along. They were pink and called Pink Panthers which was shorterned to Pinkys. and the name has stuck for the sas boys. so the pinky is a 110 sas truck . The dinky is the 90 versionsQuote:

Hi Guys
They are Armstrongs???? from memory.Just had a look at the Perentie pics I took at Rally aust, the pictures arent clear enough to read the writing on the wheels. The pair of 110s had the same tyres fitted.
Just did a google couldnt find any info, except that Perelli owns Armstrong Tire Corp.
Andrew
I pretty much did that on the beach in Lancelin (sorry, WA Aulro-ians it is too soon to go back there) and WA Transport and my insurer took a very dim view of it.:(Quote:

Its (the vehicle) generaly used by SF for recon/insertion/extration/supply type rolls, the tyres fitted Ive not seen in AUS but have seen them advertised in an old copy of a British LRO mag (pm me if you want me to dig it out)
Amongst all the other crud thats on it they have as standard; 24v for radio, radio, winch, extended fuel tanks, smoke grenade launchers (discussed previously but those are 4 tubers not 3) pintle mount for various MG's (passanger), axial mount for various MG's (the one in the rear), suspension upgrades, meatier engines (same blocks different guts/fruit)
and mission specific stuff can include anything you need from generators for when its in a command role (not usual) to a motorbike when its in the Long Range Recon configuration.
Is the original Q referring to Oz SASR Landy's or Pommy ones ?
