Hey Reads90, looks like you're from the warm, sunny end of the UK - it was always Brissy type weather whenever we ventured that far south. Can't think why you'd want to give up the M27 for the Ipswich Motorway or the Pacific Highway?!?! Maybe NOT!!

Got my interview later this month.............Perhaps I'll be the one they reject????

You might find the paperwork has changed since you got it, it can be downloaded from the site.

Actually we don't refer to it as a reprieve, it is commonly known as a 'Ticket of Leave' that gives you the freedom to wander the colony without let or hinderence from the New South Wales Corp

I remember been told when I was about 5 years old to get naturalised you got your brain removed and a pie n sauce inserted in its place. When I was 5 this really scared me.
Now Im 40 I think I could go a pie n sauce rather than a brain

well I'm a pom came here in 1968 when i was 9 with my mother and brother from the midlands.i have never been back, still have a sister living in Blackpool. my mother and brother are both naturalized but I'm not.

now that they are changing the rules on citizenship i probably will take out citizenship myself. i didn't see much point in it before, there was no prestige in it you didn't have to know anything about the country and you didn't even have to speak the language. thats one thing i'll give the yanks there a lot tougher on citizenship than we are.

I was born there and came to WA when I was 7yrs old, been back a few times with the Govt work and once for a "Museum holiday" but I got citizenized as soon as humanly possible.. I am an aussie with a bad parents for having me there, not here, could be worse be like mel Gibson born in the USA..
coughing up to being a Pom is for me like owning up to a weird fetish

Another one here, came out with my family in 1969 as a $10 tourist. Took up Aussie citizenship in 1982. THen jumped in the Rangie and headed bush straight from the ceremony (late Friday night).
