I'm a bit of a late developer; born in England in 1967 and moved to Melbourne 2004!
My company (not my company!) is ploughing through the permanent residency visa right now...

yeah was in the sunny part of the UK but the M3 and the M27 are a bloody nightmare compaired to the Ipswich motorway or the pacific highway. They don't know what real traffic is like

I was born and spent less than 30% of my life there. I've been lobotomised and handed a meat pie many a year ago and call Australia home.
I have been back twice on holiday and would not live there.

I go for Aus in all sports I watch

I stole an Aussie job and an Aussie woman, but the rest of Australian life has been stolen by America anyway so whats the problem

    Poms.

Yep I'm one. Came out in '72, elder brother paid the 20 quid for me and the cook, kids came free.
Still haven't paid him back as I haven't had me moneys worth yet.
We've been neutralised, teeth drawn and brains taken out, but the kids (they're 38 and 40 now I think!) haven't cos then they don't have to vote for the turkeys we've got in all our parliaments!
Last went back for a holiday in 1989 and had a good time but won't bother again.
Haven't even got a passport of either kind now.
Younger bro. wanted a reunion back there next year (he lives on Sydney Harbour, views of the bridge etc., elder bro. in Switzerland) but I can't be bothered.
Except for traffic lights on every corner in Perth, all I want is here, so not going anywhere else.
    Alan.

Why some Irishman aren't really irish

Hmmm maybe because he's from Belfast and they don't believe that they are Irish living in Ireland and therefore voted against being part of the Irish free state.

Born in 1958, was dragged to Australia by parents in 1964 (l wanted to go to Canada to live to become a mountie) haven't been back to UK but have been to Canada and want to go back to Canada for another long holiday as soon as the Bank Manager takes his claws out of my wallet.

Born here but 2 passports and a reasonable accent.

    Born in OZ,

Can eat meat pies like the best of 'em and i dont mean porkie pies.
Been there many times but always come back home.
But hey that pommy passport can have its uses now that it is EEC.

But dad was the real deal Somerset lad complete with Scrumpy and accent. He married an aussie las in blighty then came back ere and raised 4 kids and then buggered orf back home after 305 years. I think he plans to come back to OZ when he retires in a few years.

It has rubbed off with my love of all things British and a warped sense of humour only the poms truely understand, but i am a flag waving Cold beer drinking Aussie who can pass as a pom when required.
