    Hospital report,BlackBetty

    Hi Guys
I spoke to the good DR Kie4 earlier tonite.
He has done some tests on BlackBetty, she wasnt holding up to pressure too well and a fluid test indicated she was burping into the water. And I thought I taught her the best of manners.
So the good Doc ripped her head off, good news, doc says she has a pretty head and was leaking between 2 cylinders.Thankfully the only cosmetic surgery she needs is to remove the original factory plastic implants.Caught just in time, good job I didnt take her to Harvey
Im sure BlackBetty is lapping up the attention, she will be having a well deserved rest for another week or so.
Cant spoil the bedside attention the good Doc is giving her.
One thing Richard discovered, the sillycome I sealed the injector harness with,Loctite RTV BLUE didnt work and had reacted with the oil and created quit a mess,a new harness will go in.

    Hi Andy
    That’s almost unbelievable.
You’d think each dealer would have at least two of every gasket, cable, hose, belt etc for each model.
A couple of months ago you should have seen the bother I had trying to get a fan belt!
When I found one I ordered in another spare straight away.

    They only had one.
    good luck with black betty.

No, simply following the precepts instilled into the accountants who run the company - don't stock anything that doesn't sell x units per month - put it onto your supplier to do the stocking. (of course they do the same since most companies are run by accountants today).

The concept of customer service does not enter into the training of accountants, since it does not show as an item on the balance sheet.

I think that herein lies the problem with many business these days. Some managers are unable (not educated enough) to understand that profit/productivity increases are not simply achieved via figures on a balance sheet; but are also a function of customer and employee satisfaction.

You can't (just) blame the managers - most of them get their pay and job security on the quarterly (or even monthly) balance sheet, and the same goes for the directors, whose attitude is usually dictated by the shareholders, usually dominated by large institutional investors run purely by accountants - but whose policies are dictated in turn by the retail investors and super owners who all demand the best return on a quarterly basis. The short term focus all down the line is focussed by the legal sanctions against any director or manager who takes a long term view. The only companies who can afford the luxury of working long term are private companies or small business units which are so small relative to the whole company that they can look long term with impunity.

The end result is a whole business culture based on short term results and to hell with the long term. And no, I don't really have a solution, other than to support the few companies that buck the trend.

By managers, I meant the head shed as a whole. (I think your'e playing semantics here)

I run my own business and have worked for Government (which tends to be he worst offender when it comes to understanding productivity issues).

For big organisations, its common to 'blame the shareholders', and in some cases that's true; but I think the problem there lies with overpaid CEO's (eg Telstra) who don't take responsibilty commensurate with their incomes!
