I agree, aren't commods and Falcants for the poor folk that haven't driven a Valiant or couldn't afford a Nismo GTRQuote:

Strange about the GTR (Race Bred) You can take a GTST out to the track and belt it around all day...then drive it home. Do that with a GTR and it would be dead .probably within 5 laps :( I have allways thought that was very strange
Seton or Lowndes sound good to me. Both are genuine blokes who are good ambassadors to the sport.
That and they drive Fords! :p
I really miss the showroom formula. Unfortunately many people who support this class don't like it when their car gets flogged.
The silly thing is that the class system where the fords and the holdens can do battle means the manufacturers actually have to try and build better cars so these people would get better product to buy. :)
The race, in my opinion was a lot better when, as you have said the cars were off the showroom floor, could be "blueprinted" to manufacturers specifications and no modifications (except if my memory(?) serves me right) to tyres.Quote:

AAAAHHHHH the days of Cortina GT's, GT500's, Mini Cooper S's.............
It would be awesome, but would CAMS allow it to happen, safety wise?Quote:

It would be good to see Russell win, as it always is but i reckon Lowndes will have it if the car is reliable (which is isnt always) and he doesnt do what he did last year and clip the wall trying to set the world on fire in the first hour. The reason skaife and kelly won last year is because they settled into the groove, stayed out of trouble and plugged away until after the last safety car period. There is no point being in the lead on the first lap, you only need to be leading the last lap.Just bring on the race, its great no matter who wins, having said that i would like to see a ford win to break the 7yr drought and shut all those holden fans up. The Godzillas are a damn fast and good handling car. The issue I had at the time was they were not a production car, where as the Holdens and Fords could fairly much be bought as raced (at that time) the Nissan's could not. The lower spec version could but was nothing at all like the race version. At the time the Nissan's were $500,000 race cars with out spares compared to most Holden & Fords at around $100,000 in race trim. At the end of the day it was not a fair fight and all came back to money. Its like putting a GT3 Porsche up against a series 2 Landie. The bathurst win was the biggest croc as the Nissan actually crashed and the race was not cautioned and then red flagged for another 2 odd laps, which under the existing rules meant the Nissan was out. There were lots of crashes but still some 2wd s were getting around the track unscathed. I have watched the footage time and time again and there were no flags were the officials said there were and at the time. This has been doccumented many times since.
I would love to see them go back to the different class production format. While I like the Supercars they are not even close to what you can buy. The days of being able to buy Bathurst cars are long gone. Oh for the days of the A9X, E38 and GTHO's.

No, the race has been hijacked by the touring car racing industry and all the original ideals have gone out the window.Quote:
