according to someone i know who is doing up a car in the area where i live it is possible to put speakers in the seats, but he's a bit eccentric
Gday,
I have been installing Stereos for years in Cars (yeah sorry I was one of the people responsible for the doof doof generation) but I look at my Defender and I have no idea where to put speakers! ... I hate putting speakers in doors (exp in 4wds as thats where water goes and kills them) .. but the 4" in the front can not really be replaced with anything useful.
I am not after doofdoof .. just something a litttle more .. maybe some speakers in the back as well (will make some pods or something)
I would love to see / hear other peoples examples! ...
Thanks in advance!

Hi Cameron_Def,
Just took some pics for you of my setup (not an ultimate but better then stock ones):
2 more pics here
Cheers,
Ruslan
Ive mounted 6x9,s in box,s of my cargo barrier with brackets i made that when in camp i can turn them around to face out the back door
the defender wagon does not make for good accoustics what ever you do the music sounds **** no where near as sweet as BFG muddies singing or that Tdi knock![]()

Ahh nice setup .. how do you secure the pannel in there ... your not worried about loosing that space ...
hmm infact I think I know how to do mine now .. well the backs anyway... what did you do to the front ?
I can't take credit for any of this, the guy who owned before me got this all installed. Stereo pumps out a good sound and it's actually not that noticable from theft point of view.... ok it's a few years old now.
Tweaters on both sides of dash... use same screw hole as the dashboard vent...
Main speakers are mounted above rear door...
Sub woofer in it's own box/case strapped to the sides of the rear floor...
Amp bolted to rear (or front) of cargo drawer
Regards
Scott
Yeah I dunno.... when my stereo is cranking I can't hear anything else.... and it's crystal clear.Originally Posted by rangieman

... But I guess it just depends on how much money and watts (or whatever) you throw in.
I've got receipts the bloke who owned mine before me spent 4.5K.... back in 2002
I'd probably never fork out that much on my own but I'm certainly glad I've got it.

The pannel fits inside U-channel from the bottom and very tightly on top (stock plastic trimming holds it there). It comes off if I need. Space... I keep spares such as belt, fuses, bulbs, set of spanners and other "emergency" tools there. Also I don't worry about flying stuff in luggage area in case of body damage from inside. For trips I use plastic boxes, so this area are not very useful for daily needs.Originally Posted by Cameron_Def
Good to hear you know what to do now
... front - replaced factory speakers with better quality once.

Cool thanks for that, where are the main drivers for that setup, are they in the 4" holes, or in the door ?Originally Posted by bluetongue
Looks like what I was going to do...
