ISDN isn't outdated, it was just never really used in Australia. Telecom / Telstra just priced it so high that only businesses would get it - and only then for a leased line.

In some countries in Europe it's quite common to have ISDN to every home

Sorry - just adding in some useless trivia

OK maybe I stand corrected regarding ISDN?
    But maybe not....

Be honest when was the last time you had an ISDN line installed or even knew someone that installed an ISDN line?!? and a PC comms technology that's been around since the 80's, well if that's not outdated what is?

Yes ISDN has always been over priced here and in Europe/UK but sometimes a connection that's twice as fast as dial up maybe worth paying the premium if that's all you can get.

Either way ISDN will reside in the technological history book like betamax and super8 video.

But you are correct ..... a "little" knowledge is a dangerous thing......

I've got Telstra, what a pack of useless bastards. I had Optus prior, much better and faster and it was 256K speed compared to 128K that Telstra have, a whole $10 saving.

Now this 'ere site take twice as long now Telstra, need shootin I reckon

OK mate I don't mind eating humble pie now and again

maybe they should be looking at satellite though? it's much better than ISDN, IMO
I Don't know how much ISDN is. I think I used to pay around $50 a month for satellite. I was quite happy with it.

I've got Optusnet cable and I'm on their Unlimited Plan (really, it is limited - 12Gb/month peak period plus 24Gb/month off peak which is a bit of overkill but their next plan down is only 1Gb per month. OK, this isn't really limited, if I go over then it drops back to 56kb/s

I've also got their $4.95 (inc GST) per month unlimited download dial-up for use at work or on holidays.

We have three users at home all connected simultaneously through a wireless router.
