Lucky its not the Ground hog day... best thing about time mate is its history now![]()
well i took the wifes car to work yesterday, (night shift) got to St Leonards (about 85 ks from the gong) 1.5 hrs not a problem.
i checked the water and oil before i left work to come home all OK, checked the temp gauge numerous times along the F6 all OK. got to Bulli Tops and i get a splash of water on the windscreen, I thought it was from the car in front. i drove for another couple of K's and the car started playing up, I checked the temp gauge its red lining so i pulled over and found that its got a blown head.
so i called for a tow truck, he says it will cost $110 to tow the Festiva 15 Ks home and he will be there in 20 min. so there i am on the F6 the temps 36 degs no shade, not even in the car and nothing to drink.
tow truck arrives 45 min later by which time i am dehydrated sun burnt and not very happy. gets the car home at 3 30 pm and goes to bed as i have to do night shift again, temp inside is the same as outside 36 deg. i wake up 3 hrs later have tea, then i gets ready for work, at 8 pm got my wife to drive me to the station and there's no trains running between Thirroul and Waterfall because of track work so then its a bus to Waterfall then a train to Central, then another train to Nth Sydney and then another bus to St Leonards because there is track work on that line to. i finally get to work at 10 30 pm. what sh*t of a day and now i have to do it all over again.
NOT HAPPY JAN, NOT HAPPY AT ALL !!!![]()

i'm just glad it wasn't the disco
I have NRMA Premium Care on the Rangie.
I've had two flat-bed trips to the workshop in the last 2 months (fortunately local) after having (a) water pump bearing collaps and (b) losing the oil pressure relief valve.
I also had a flat-bed trip from Orange to Penrith (200km) after the flex plate failed earlier this year.
All at no cost. On the Orange trip, the NRMA also paid for a motel for the night.
Well worth the annual fee.

At least being a festiva the parts should be cheap. Got the final tuning on the wifes car yesterday. We ended up dumping the workshop manual and doing it by ear. Following correct procedures it was so out there was no power and temp guage was going nuts.
Are you going to fix it yourself or take it to the mechanic?
Either way good luck.
wow,, Bulli to St Leonards
have you thought of living in the same state as the job?
buying a helicopter?
I hope the Disco is a diesel!!![]()

Are you kidding. If it has a Ford badge then nothing is cheap. Try these for OEM parts pricing for my late Falcon ute:-Originally Posted by George130

I actually live in Faiy Meadow which is about 5 km south of Bulli. it is a long way to go for work but there's no way I would live in Sydney. and no the disco is not a diesel. and the wife's now got that because she works at Ingleburn and i'm relegated to walking home from the station abuot half hour walk.
She drives from fairmeadow to the Burn each day!!!!!Originally Posted by chunk

I hope she gets paid a lot or at least gets a fuel allowance or something
Thats like a tank every 2nd day isn't it?
Rough day mate, good thing we dont have those to often. Gotta love them tow truck drivers, i reckon they all have flat batteries in their watches and turn up when they feel like it. Matt
