    BlackBetty is home

    YAY she is home
Not without a big drama.THAT 626 POS I borrowed from my Bro blew up on the trip up to Perth, ended up on the back of a tow truck.
Real happy with Richard(Kie4),a real good price$1500 all up including a new injector harness.
Ive got the dreaded oil in the ECU,but Richard is confident that I can keep it cleaned up using brake cleaner and opening up the covering on the harness at its lowest point. It had interior lights that wouldnt go out and the electric radiator fan is running constantly with the engine on.There was one "refuse to start" when I left Bunnings after buying a new angle grinder to build her new rear bumper.Switched the key on and off 3 times and all was OK.
Well done Richard,I realise it was a trying time for you getting her going and packing/cleaning/shifting house. For you Perth blokes looking for a Landy mechanic give him a go

Good to see you have got her back. So after all your efforts you still got oil in the ecu? Not good. We might have to re-design one of LRs biggest pukc ups alongside the loose bolt fiasco. There has to be an easy permanent fix, time for some lateral thinking.
All settled in down here now, New spa arrives Monday (will have to wait until Wed night to try it when I get home). Plenty of room when you want to come down this way next.
Found a nice little spot today when I went on an ER reco mission down to the salt water intake. A place called Mason's Bay, about 30kms east of Hopetoun. Nice little campsites right on the beach. Looked like a fair amount of shallow sand and rock areas to swim and snorkle. Talking to campers fishing is OK as well.

    Hi Craig
Yep the Sillycum didnt work.It was Loctite RTV sensor safe blue. The engine oil ate it,it was left for more than 24hrs to cure,I wonder if its the synthetic oil that caused it,normally its a good sillycum.Ive tried opening the ECU but havent got anything suitable to do those tamper proof screws, got one undone so now I can get the correct tool.
Stop teasing me,I would pack up and head for Esperance now if I could.

hum,I had problem with oil in ecu and fixed by removing ecu from engine bay and removing top (seemed to be glued on +funny screws) cleaned out with diaelectric spray and replaced.worked ok for 18mths untill chipped.(replaced ecu old mod00). after reading this just checked ecu plug and it seems ok.
gotto have a win sometimes hey!
(in fact the disco has done11 thousand klicks no problems.)
gee I hope I dont put the mocca on it!

Its amazing how much oil travels up the wires.Richard showed me when I picked it up,it was covered in oil,we cleaned it,checked it this morning the connection was flooded again after 160km.
Richard recommended brake cleaner,(what they use at the dealer)seems to clean it up quickly.
Does anybody know if the oil capilarates up the inside of the wires or the outside? seems too clean to be coming up the outside.
For the mean time I have reversed the ECU(the engine plug is now lowermost) and removed the rubber plug/seal on the engine ecu plug to alow the oil to drip out of the connector.
Anybody know what they call the screw type and driver size needed in the ECU.Its a star drive but has a central stud to stop you using a torx type bit.
