Another reason to not like nisans

Well as some of you know we have a nissan X-trail for Rebecca to commute to work with. Fortunately at the moment she has a work car, because this morning it had to be towed to the mechanic

While I was waiting for my tow I checked a few connections etc, and I thought i'd check the oil level, mayonaise everywhere

So it looks like it's blown a head gasket. Ahh well, the house doesn't need painting that much anyway.

2002, we are the 2nd owner, and it's got 140,000 km on the clock (only 200km shy of it). I was talking to a friend who has 71 x-trails (car rental place) who was a little disturbed by the news, so i'll have to keep him updated as to what happens. I don't know of any generic problem, but it is nissan, look at the 3.0L patrol.

Friends of ours have a X-trail and said it has always been built proof. Sounds like a bit of bad luck.

I know of a camry that had always been serviced and the head gasket went at 140K also. Upon investigating it looked liked the coolant had never been changed. So someone must have been cheating on servicing.
