Thread: before buying....

Mate, just check the usual, check for oil leaks, crawl under it and inspect everything for damage, take it for a run, test everything, take someone with you to test all the lights, if there is a tunnel nearby drive through it to check the dash lights, if some dont work have them fix it. Be thourough as its the little things that will bother you lately. Find a back street and put it in low range, make sure it engages smoothly and the gears are fine all of them. Check all the buttons on the dash, the air con, the heater. Check the air filter, check the dipstick. Take a magnetic p-plate and put it on all of the panels, if any have been bogged up the magnet wont stick. Make sure all the gaps between doors and panels are the same, if they arent then it could have been in an accident. If they claim to have replaced something ask to see the receipt and if possible look at what they replaced, it has been replaced it will look new. Check the service history thouroughly. Matt

I thought we had this discussion a while ago and someone said they were steel on the D2, or are some steel and some still aluminium?

I know the doors changed to steel but I thought some other panels were still steel.
I have a wander around the workshop & find out .

It's just the side doors & roof that are steel.


Unless the car I checked is full of bog .

is having a CDL a requirement, if so you might want to check, being an 02 it may not have one

i have checked most things... but have yet to crawl under it...

i will check if i can take it for a drive.. issue is that it is an auction house that i am looking to buy it from.. but its on a dealer tender so its an ex-fleet car.. and a full dealer service history... and its cheap... the same price as dealers are looking to buy it at... so a bit of a bargain by all accounts! (well i hope it is)

it does have the odd chip out of the paint down the side and a few scratches... nothing that cant be fixed... but i will get under it and have a damn good look for leaks....

anywhere that is common for leaks on these things?

a CDL? im assuming being a complete newb... that that means centre diff lock?

hope so otherwise i look a muppet

to me its not important i dont think.. buti can check... was it an option then? its an SE model if that helps?
