    lucky you, weeds.

    pity about the weather tho'

don't believe anything the weather dudes say

doesn't rain in Aussie any more - there's a drought

(wish it'd rain here right now -it warm, very humid and 100% high cloud, icky, i believe is the technical term).

    cheers, GQ

    i'm back

    how bloody windy

    sat
set off with the pop top in tow and a mate driving his 100 series. got to rainbow in good time, a quick stop in town to pick up the things we forgot there always something.

set up the pop top in 100 knot winds, the ranger was right onto us asking for a permits, all good we had them. the ranger reckoned the winds would change from the northerly to a south easter in the afternoon, well 24hr later it swung around which made the camp site a bit more comfortable

drove down to where the feries operate to escape the wind a bit to try and teach the young fella how to cast, took my eyes off him for a minuted and we had the biggest birds nest of line. i righted that problem and had a few casts, picked up a few under size whiting which got thrown back.

just as we were about to leave a guy approached use saying he had blown a fuse and asked if we could help, we gave him a piece of wire to short across the fuse to see if it would start. as we were driving past he waved us down saying he couldnot work out which fuse. we popped the bonnet to find a battery terminal loose and coroded. after a quick clean and a tech screw to secure the terminal that we could not tighten he was off.

spent the rest of the day swimming, flying the kite and having a few beers

after diinner we had a drop in that was very drunk from one of the other campsites, no matter how many times we hinted that he should go and find his own camp site he would not move on, his friends eventually arrived to rescue us and him, lucky for him as i had just about enough, now i just have to stop the kids from repeating every swear word that came out of his mouth

    sun
breakfast followed by more fishing, swimming etc. the plan was to head across the King Bore Track at high tide, have lunch on teewah beach from there my mate would head back to brisbane and we would head back to inskip via double island point and rainbow beach.

from all reports i had heard about how tough king bore track was, i think getting out of my drive way is tougher, it was a bit of a disappointment as it was an easy drive. it was tougher driving to double island point as it was slug through soft sand all the way. i was looking forward to a swim at the southern end of rainbow in the protected bay.

we headed across the cutting only to find two cars bogged, a turbo diesel troopy and an all wheel drive thingy along with a nissian patrol with trailer helping out. not only were we held up but there was also a dual cab waiting on the beach as well. after waiting for 20 minutes i walked up to have a looked, asked if they needed any help and got a response we'll be right mate, they were all runnig full tyre pressures.

bloody hell where did all the sand go, from the tree line at the end of the crossing there was only two meters of sand to the water, normally there is 100m, umm not sure that i will be able to get to rainbow, walking back to my i asked one of the guys if the rocks were passible at low tide he said no, when i was walking past the all wheel drive i think he was regretting the decline of help, he didn't ask so i didn't offer again, felt like saying how bout lowering your tyre pressures.

keen for a beer i did a u-turn and and decided to back track and take the freshwater track back to rainbow beach. the dual cab caught up with us so i'm gueesing the other motley crew must have sorted themselves out. while driving though rainbow i though i would check the rocks out, sure enough they would have been passible at low.

    mon
more all wheel drives bogged in and around inskip point, gotta laught at them, none of them wanted assistance, one guy was digging for an hour or more before he finally asked another 4wd for help

after packing the pop top up i thought i would have a go at towing her onto the beach through the soft stuff. megs was not keen saying we will look like right idots if we got bogged after laughing all weekend long at those that were bogged. no problem at all towed the van onto the beach and off again - to easy

stopped at rainbow beach for a pie and than onto the under body car wash. i had never used one and with the water restriction i thought i would give it a go. WHAT A WASTE OF $10, when it was finsihed there was still a heap of sand under the fender, never again i don't think. if i didn't have the van on and i had prior knowledge i wiould have moved the fender back and forth while being sprayed which might have got more sand off

must start planning the next weekender
