if you were under 10k's over i belive the fine is only $50 and no points.
I'm sure someone will confirm this or otherwise.

Also I have heard that if you ask to see the pics and there are two vehicles in the frame the camera can't tell which one is overtaking. So if two vehicles in the frame you can dispute that you were speeding. They have to be traveling in the same direction of course. The catch is you have to go to the city to see them.

Correct. They may not even bother fining you, I've been flashed for that sort of speed and never got a ticket.

They won't even bother (usually) if there are two vehicles in the frame. Again, that's happened to me, I've been flashed when someone was overtaking me, and flashed when I was overtaking someone else, neither time received a ticket.

Hi there, depending on the location of the speed camera you may get away with it. in school zones and black spots your pretty well gone. but a lot of camera's that are not profitable at times don't have film in them
some of the newer cameras are digital but most still use film. i personally have been flashed at least 3 times this year and received no fines. so you may be lucky.

"Four youths from Canberra, Australia pulled off a trick of breathtaking bravado in order to gain revenge on a mobile speed camera van operating in the area.

Three of the group approached the van and distracted the operator's attention by asking a series of questions about how the equipment worked and how many cars the operator could catch in a day. Meanwhile, the fourth musketeer sneaked to the front of the van and unscrewed its numberplate.

After bidding the van operator goodbye, the friends returned home, fixed the number plate to their car and drove through the camera's radar at high speed - 17 times. As a result, the automated billing system issued 17 speeding tickets to itself."

that would just be so sweet.
Yes that did happen. The system also de registered the feet as they ignored the fines. I know someone who used to work for them at the time.

Red light cameras in Canberra always take a photo regardless of there being a vehicle or not to catch things that didn't trigger the system.

if its under a company name.....there is a chance you may get away without losing any points......
as they cant book the company for driving....they need to know who to book.....
if you dont give them this info........they just demend their money....and forget about taking any points......
    Zook,
WA is about to or just has changed the law on that one.....if it is company vehicle they will issue points to the directors/owners or until the owners tell the cops who it was. But there is another loop hole to get away with the points.
When you get your fine pay by cheaque, but pay a couple dollars extra, Police will issue you a cheaque in the mail for the change and rip that cheaque up. According to their computer system the transacation is incomplete until you bank the couple of dollars, so they dont give you points till it is complete. A mate tried this a few tears ago and still hasn't got the points yet......although they may have caught on about that one now.

and from what i've been told sometimes the first 100 or so shots are used to look at things like seatbelts or using mobile phones, they also have a timeframe to issue you with a fine, one easter 'bout 5 or 6 years ago ( before double demerits came in ) there was around about 60 odd rolls of film that just were'nt processed within the set timeframes so they had to bin the lot.
richard, i'll e-mail you when the wife gets back on sunday.

a scheme that was operating in the UK, dont know if it still is:

some people who were booked with speed cam and didnt want to lose the points, especially if it took them over the limit for licence cancellation used to pay uni students who had plenty of points to spare to take the fall.

costs the fine plus the bribe for the student , but they dont lose the licence.

aint the free enterprise system great!!!

    Speed cameras.

You're learning quick Richard. One thing they won't tolerate in this place is those doing a few kays over the limit. Do anything else and they couldn't care less.
The cops themselves aren't too crash hot as drivers regardless of the "very in-depth" training they're supposed to get, and as soon as they've got the lights on top revert to being just bad drivers the same as 90% of the population!
Hope to catch up with you on a trip soon.
    Alan.
