Can't say I've heard much about "Beaver" (well not as in hoists) but you've got yourself a 3200kg version most 4WD handwinches are 1600kg which is why its a bit bigger than you thought.
So you've got yourself a big beaver - be happy

Picked this fella up off ebay.
It's a little bigger than I thought.
Are these the good ones?

Its a knock off of a tirfor. so long as the casing isnt damaged and the gripping jaws inside are ok IMHO Its pretty much a muchness as to which one you get... If it has a SWL stamped on it dont exceed it and your laughing...
Keep it CLEAN.... inside and out. keep the cable clean especially if you are working it under a big load (i keep a BBQ scrubber on hand to help out)
Try and source some spare pins for it ASAP if you dont have them and before you use it pull it down and inspect the existing pin and place the tools you need to do the job in the box... been caught out with a sheared pin and a spare on hand just to be snavvled by the lack of something to drift the old one out.
Good find tho.. specially if it was at the right price

I was looking for the larger sized winch, it seemed silly not to be able to pull the 130 fully loaded up the side of a cliff. Hmm, like that happens often.
Cost $120, which seemed like a good idea when I won the auction, not quite such a good idea when the dvd player, toaster, dishwasher, and washing machine all died permanently in the week between winning and picking up.
Ah well, it can go in the shed and wait for the 130 to come home.
Cheers

Thats a pretty damn good price, you wouldnt see a tirfor go for that in any condition on ebay, you did well. Matt

I just noticed it's a "Tuff Pull Beaver"
I got to get me one of them![]()
Well thanks for all of your valuable advice. I'm going to assume that everyone has already visited here, and of course you were looking for pictures of winches.
From their website Beaver have been around since the 70s making hoisting and recovery gear. They make Tuff Pull, Big Haul, and Black Rat gear.
The information I was hoping to find was more along the lines of if anyone knew the difference between the three above brands, etc. I noticed on the website that one of the brands of winch isn't rated for lifting.
Please, no pictures, this is a family rated site.
Cheers
Simon
