turn it off, it doesn't do anything for them running all the time, just wears the compressor out. Remember it has a little crankshaft, rod/s and piston/s in there, going up and down all the time.
Car A/C is recommended to run occaisonally, just for crankshaft seal lubrication, but this doesn't apply to the little Danfoss compressor in the Waeco as it's a sealed (Hermetic) compressor. and FWIW I've seen large industrial open drive refrigeration compressors turned off for 6 months at a time, then fired up without problems, but I still run the car A/C once a week.
An absorbtion type refrigerator (eg. 3-way, 12V, 240V and gas) can have the active constituents (generally bromine, ammonia and water) settle out if left sitting and unused, but a tip upside down and a vigorous shake usually fix them. (there actually is a special procedure, but it looks like a tip upside down and a shake)
