It comes with 1 yr free labour for servicing & a 3 year Land Rover countrywide warranty.

Any thoughts, good or bad on the price & the dealership...

Looks pretty good, Seems a little pricey.. but has some good extras.

I'd be checking previous service history - and whether the CDL is in the transfercase..

Have you driven it yet?..

The CDL "just needs the cable" according to the sales bloke. I'm going to drive it tomorrow.

That looks like a good price Disco looks to be in great condition and has all the extras you need. Get the CDL connected and you will have a fantastic Touring rig.

Check for the dreaded "oil in the injector wiring loom" fault. If so, make sure it will be fixed under statutory warrenty as its a $1000ish repair. Some sellers will just clean the oil from the plug at the ECU so the problem is hidden for another month.

I think some cars this age also had a problem where the oil pump drive gear retaining bolt can come loose ( forgot the loctite

) - no oil pressure = screwed engine. If it hasn't already been checked, get them to drop the sump at the next service and check it.

Not exactly sure of the model but Red Book says the private sale price of that vehicle is $19K to $23K if standard, $26K to $31K if its a 7 seater ES. As to servicing the ad says 1 years scheduled servicing free - which depending on the kilometres you do may be just an oil change so I wouldn't count that as much. Having said that the Disco does look in good nick.

I bought it today & take delivery tomorrow. Now where is the nearest beach?

Thanks for all the words of wisdom. I even got them to put it on the lift to check underneath. Should have seen the looks I got. Mad south african. Apart from a few dents in the fuel tank & a transmission oil leak which should be fixed by tomorrow, it looks OK. The rear springs look newish as the part no. labels are still attached. It also has a full LR service history. I even managed to extract a free snatch strap, shackles & gloves.

my '01 has a 10 year corrosion warranty,,

not that I think LR would read the fine print they print,,,
