A late LR aquaintance of our was beating & raping his wife & beating his kids up for years unbeknowns to us. After a brief holiday here, & after they got home again in Vic. there was an argument about some potatoes that had gone green, so to punish her he anally raped her. Not for the first time either it seems. It transpired that he'd been behaving like this since their honeymoon 17 year before & it also appeared that in turn, his father had treated them badly, so they both had a controlling nature.

The next night, she lay in wait for him & put 3 bullets in him & killed him. One in the head & two in his chest. End of story & misery.
She was aquitted of both Murder & Manslaughter in the Victorian Supreme Court earlier this year & some of you may recall the case.

Today, they are leading a normal life without fear of punishment for riculous things. When they were here we could tell something was wrong but couldn't put the finger on it. One week later we knew what it was.

The one phrase we kept hearing during this drama was "You never know what goes on behind closed doors with people".

I can't believe Peter Perfect was any different & she should be given some credence.
I note most of the above comments come out in his favour.

No doubt her experiences can be substantiated by friends & others, so the truth will out one day.
yep i remember the case near mansfield i think

The thought of his ex wife saying stuff like that about him is terrible, if it happened enough to her why didn't she report it then?

The whole story is motivated by pure greed, and probably not true

No one is perfect, but why wait till he's dead to tarnish his name?

    Women deserve beatings????

    have I read this wrong??

Not sure if this is what was intended but it sure sounds like it.

What rock did you crawl out from underneath.

I mean it's 2006 it isn't ok to beat on anyone, especially a woman regardless of what your beliefs are.

Just what type of message are you trying to give Dobbo, One that says it's ok to beat on woman providing you have a justified reason or perhaps you just figured that writting it would get a cheap laugh at someone else's expense.

IMHO if you find domestic violence funny then you need help.

Youch guys.... I'm not here to defend Brockie, but I've been a journo (and other careers) for 32 years and I've heard lots of 'interesting' stuff....

this has not appeared on the journo radar....

just a gentle reminder good people, robust discussion is encouraged, but this is an emotive subject, so lets not get too carried away.

The point I was trying to make by starting this was that it seems that there is always someone ready to tell their story about what someone famous did to them after the famous person has died.

Ok this happened in the '70's supposidly, roughly around the same time domestic violence wasn't "Frowned upon" like it is today. Which would mean that "Certain Public Departments" would have possibly helped cover this up due to his rising fame in motor sports. Which could have prevented her from having him charged or some other actions. He may have just paid her to shut up about it we'll never know.

Pehaps the claims are true that he did infact beat her, but leopards don't change their spots so I would think that his next wife Bev would have copped the same treatment. Having said that the guy isn't around to ask and it really gets my goat that people come out after the person/ and the fear of being sued is gone.

    This is old re-cycled news..
I have'nt read the article properly coz this news was spread around at the time they (Michelle Downes & Brocky) broke up.
Maybe it was the Media at the time but she was subsequently reported as "mentally unwell" .
It will be interesting to see what comes of it this time.
A mate of mine at the time was going steady with her and she dropped him like a hot rock and took after Brocky. Needless to say he was'nt impressed with either of them.

Just saw this- its from 2 months ago

That is not what I am saying at all, and I agree with you completely

All I am stating is it is a very, very low blow to tarnish a persons name after their death, if it was brought to light while he was alive and we could hear his side of the story. The story is finacially motivated, and this discusts me completely.

You do not know what he was like behind closed doors, I don't either.

Personally I do not think this makes for good news, or entertainment on any level and the journalist who wrote the story should realise this aswell, but they don't care they just want money. The journalist and editor are as bad as the accusor. My one line comment was just that a one liner, if you take it serious then perhaps look in the mirror because you are having a personal attack at me and presuming what my thoughts and beliefs are, then stating I am the one that needs help.....

    I beg to differ,

If you met me and my beautiful wife and kids that I idolise and adore, then you would realise that the quoted line was one of jest, in bad taste yes, but jest all the same. If I offended you, I am sorry, it was not my intention, all I am saying is that it is deplorable what this woman and journalist is doing to this dead man's reputation.
