If you had children (saying you don't want any doesn't count these things could happen), would you survive with the 90 as your only car?

The 90's limitations far outway the minor offroad benifits (for me anyway)
The pic i posted earler is of a 20 year old 90 (the one on its side in a ditch)

I will always have a 90. Had 5 of them now and love them. You are right they have limitations but so do the 110. Horses for courses

As for moving house a 90 agreed does not have alot of space in the back , but for the size nor does a 110. They both look on the outside like the have more room than they do inside

BTW i have owned 2 110 and my dad has had 8 off them though my life so know 110 well

So whats in it for me if I take you guys to a boghole and/or obsticle that a stock 110 can traverse 1st go and unassisted that a stock 90 cannot?

Thats just the offroad bit if you want I am prepared to organise a weekend long test comprising of urban and offroad tasks

    Any takers?

i fail to see how a bog hole would make any difference to a 90 or 110 unless there are high ruts and happen to be deep holes 90in appart?

I fail to see how any of this crap has to do with Greylandys original post, he's going from a Rav4 to a D90, they seem very similar in size, maybe that's the criteria, small.

    Just an observation

Good point - perhaps we should start a 90vs100vs110 wheelbase thread.

Back on topic - Dont buy a Rav, Tash wanted a rav a few years back, we test drove them, While i liked the interior and it was nice and comfy, it was way to small to carry any reasonable load and it was absolutely gutless. Just going up hill with 2 of us in it and no aircon it was struggling.

After I had a test drive with the D3, I think I am better stick to my yellow little box. (I can't afford any panel damage on a brand new D3)

What we really need it a 90vs100vs110vsRAV4

One of my past uni lecturers had a RAV4 (original 5 door shape) and was telling me of his woes. I forget them all except that it needed a new manual gearbox pre 100000kms (out of warranty). He actually used it for dirt road touring around this great country. When I left uni he was just doing a deal to trade it on a Suburu Forester which he was taking straight to Cape York.

hey dobbo, just thought i'd say by all means come around and watch my france dvd, of the criossier blanche event in the french alps that we went to with other friends.......then you wont need to do a weekend test...

we went up a hill, that most of the blokes would not drive (winched up) that had also stated that no one should even attempt the hill without lockers and lifts etc etc....a disco with all the bling took 40 mins and after bracking 3 snow chains they finally winched up.......we walked up that hill all of us (in short wheel base) except the rangies had a couple of attemps and our 90 is stock standard and
    STILL IS

you can not organise a weekend event to prove which vehicle is better, unless you are gunna drive them all your self.......there are to many variations to consider i.e driver skills for a start, tyres....age of vehicle i.e ours is 200tdi where as many others are td5.........

and to be honest if you were even to drive them all your self are you really a good enough off roader to be able to do that!!!! as all the different models especially 90's i would of thought would need to be driven with the conditions in mind so would be driven differently to one another.....approaching a difficult obstical in a 110, does't mean you approach it the same way in a 90 if i'm explaining my self right
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
