No, BigJon is right - pusher fan, same as the Mini, 1100, 1500, Moke - I think the Kimberly/Tasman went to an electric fan with a front mounted radiator.

Hmm, my daughter has taken a liking to the D1 I just bought.
I'm wondering about taking a week or so rec leave and driving it to Derby (flying back). It's about 4200km.
MapMaker suggests a southern route via Broken Hill, Pt Augusta, then up through Alice and across the Tanami to Derby.
How difficult is the Tanami? I've always wanted to do it ever since one of my staff did it about 25 years ago in his FJ45 troopie.
If I could get a bit more leave I'd do the Gibb River Rd. as well.

I haven't heard any first hand news recently, but with all the rain around the top end and WA, I wouldn't be surprised if the Tanami was impassable at the northern end. I would think that the GRR would be shut too.
If you do come through here, I expect a visit of some sort. No excuses like last time :p .
G'day P38arover :)
Why not truck it to Darwin, then she could drive it home, Incisor got his 110 Defender down to bris for under 1K:) and no wear and tear or road strikes;) OR rail to Perth.
cheers
Rail to Perth still leaves a long long way to Derby. Must be over 2500 km. Darwin isn't that close either. Then you have to take into account the price difference between freight heading north vs south. Backfreight south is often a lot cheaper than northbound.
Towards the end of April I will probably be going from rockhampton across to about the mid point of the Gibb River road, with my sister as she has got a job there. We will take her county. Is this about the time you will be going?
Mornington. I would have to agree haveing been to the kimberlys several times before. Looking forward to it.
We are now looking at me driving the Disco to Adelaide, putting it and me on the Ghan to Darwin (I get discount travel on the train). Elisabeth will fly to Darwin and meet up with me. Then we'll drive to Derby via Katherine.
After leaving the car in Derby, we'll fly back to Sydney.
