    No new Defenders in Perth

Rang Southern yesterday to find out the availability of new Defenders in Perth, the response went something like:

"Can't get 'em any more, we sold the last one and they're not bringing any more in. Might be an update next year but I don't know when and I have no specs".

Okay, I'll rephrase that... seeing as your in a bad mood Frenchie I dont want a horses head in my bed.

I meant bollocks to Southern not you. When i bought the Defender they were about as much use as a fly screen on a submarine. They were unhelpful and down right rude. When i went to looking for the replacement for the Disco i looked at a second hand Defender which was overpriced. I told them that i was tossing up between buying second hand or novating a new one through work. The sales rep got ****y with me and started getting rude . When i told him that with the fleet discount the new one was cheaper than the second hand one he told me to f**k off and hung up on me.

I'll never be going back there again. Worst bit is them and Barbagallo's are the same damn company so it doesnt really matter where you go in Perth.

I got to say the sales guy at Barbagallo's was excellent and their service dept have been great so far (ABS Sensor problem, all sorted yesterday).

Unfortunately the sales guy Trevor Reeve has left to go to Ford so i cant even recommend one now

It ****s me off when people do that, and then people wonder why land rover dont sell vehicles, if they didnt have a pack of dickheads selling them we would be fine (no offence to the good dealers). How do ********s like this bloke get a job dealing with people, they should be behind a desk in a 50 story building doing data entry if they cant be nice to customers. Matt

That's alright Stu I knew what you meant.

Funny thing is when I bought my Defender (5 years ago) the sales staff at Barbagallos didn't want to know me but the chap I dealt with at Southern was great, really went out of his way to make sure I could take delivery on Christmas eve.

Mate, you'll find one, just keep looking. I am sure if you march in there and ask to talk to someone higher up things will happen, complain to management, if the salesman is costing the owner business i would imagine that wouold be frowned upon. Matt

I would suggest simply going interstate (take a bit of a holiday) and drive one home. I did this last year - went down to Sydney for some work meetings, checked out a few new-ish Defenders - bought one and drove it home. Excellent little trip to sus' out what needed attending to under warranty.

Now I know Perth is a fair bit further from Sydney or Melbourne - but hey, you can take a longer break and see some countryside on the return. Also, if you're buying the vehicle for work it might make the whole trip tax deductable (cha-ching).
