Actually I was about to say the same thing, glad I bothered reading to the end of the thread before replyingOriginally Posted by garrycol
I know if I expressed my opinion and got a response like that I would have been hurt and offended - and yes I may have a thin skin but I don't think you should have to have a thick skin just for airing an opinion.
The D3's and RR's are a nice car however they may just not be for everybody, and yes they have an expensive price-tag which some people are willing to stretch to and others are not.. such is life, each to their own.
I certainly wouldn't knock one down if offered one![]()
I didn't know that. After a bit of 'Net research, it seems it is illegal in some places.Originally Posted by Brian Hjelm

Point taken and post amended. Jojo, I genuinely apologise for the comment and any offence caused.
To Grizzly and Garrycol:
I just get sick of folks posting here and knocking vehicles about which they have no real practical experience.
How can I feel like I can appreciate my own vehicle here, when there's always someone who hasn't done 65000km in one ready to tell me it's a piece of overpriced crap!
Indeed! Nobody should deprecate anyone elses vehicle, I became very unhappy with my Disco last week to the point I couldnt appreciate it. It's like the auto vs manual debate, its bottomless and by being antagonising you just make both camps unhappy / cant appreciate their vehicleOriginally Posted by Jamo

Jamo’s comments may have been over the top, BUT, when I first read the crap that was posted, I had to leave answering for a while because I would have posted something along the same lines that Jamo posted.
It’s one thing to go to some non Landy site and get mud slung at as because we choose to drive a Landy, but it’s nothing short of an insult when someone here posts what Jamo rightly called as crap.
Jojo’s comments were not those of a person making learned observations, the were nothing short of being rants by a person, who is quite obviously, suffering from acute green eyed monster syndrome.
An opinion is one thing, an unwarranted, ill-informed slagging is something else and was intended to denigrate the owners as much as the vehicles.

the man is alllowed to voice an opinion, same as you are..
and i am dammed if i can see where any of it was a slagging..
he pointed out a few problems or let downs as he sees them, and had some nice things to say about ones he didnt previously like..
personaly i thought some of his points valid and others not so valid
i certainly didnt see anything that deserved some of the invective thrown as a response..
have you ever met the man or spoken to him?
i have and the man is a very highly qualified and highly respected professional, not to mention very likeable, and he is not with out a clue or bank balance i shouldnt think, so the green eyed monster bit is more than just a little inappropriate
i personally find that response quite offensive and extremely arrogant.
its a real shame some of you cant deal with a difference of opinion with out descending to the personality perspective, very very disappointing.
bloody silly season must be here already.......

Well I would personally like to thank those people on this site and elsewhere that buy new Land Rovers. As without them where would I get my second hand ones from?
The Land Rover I have from memory sold for $39990 plus extras when new in 1994. I seem to remember most base model mid size 4x4s selling for that about then (I was only in grade 10).
With Land Rover resale it won't be long before the current crop of new Land Rovers are affordable for the masses on the second hand market.
I know Jamo and I have been through your pain - when the 300tdi's Defenders first came out I copped a lot because the Counties were "better" and had been proven in the field, and the 300tdi's had their share of problems - quite serious ones too! (timing belts? mainshafts anyone?) Any problems people have experienced in the Discovery 3's are quite tame by comparison...Originally Posted by Jamo
It's just having posted my opinions and been burnt down before I don't feel it's necessary. Sometimes you just have to agree to disagree - he's had his experience and you've had yours. Your experience has been positive and over a longer period, so therefore you're statements should hold more weight... however he is still entitled to his opinion, whether it is wrong / misinformed / or what.
Your job is then to let him know your experiences, and that may change his opinion![]()
