Hmm, I just noticed the product pics show a coppery looking solution. The one I used was just a little cloudy but no copper look.

Did you shake the bottle well, sometimes the components of these products can settle on the bottom of the bottle if its been on the shelf a while. Matt

Yep. I just had another look at the empty bottle - not a trace of colour.

Odd. Oh, well seems to have worked.

Oh well, if it worked it must be alright. I wouldnt be to worried unless it comes unstuck, which i am sure it wont. Matt

I drained the cooling system and flushed the stuff out today.

Then I looked inside the car and saw the paper towel had water on it after the flush. Bugger!

I thought the leak stop stuff had to stay in the system.
It's been years since I have used any but I remember using the old Bars Leak & that stayed in the system.

I've just found out I've not used it correctly. The instructions with the product don't give the full procedure and the Australian website give none at all.

After a lot of mucking around I found the US manufacturer's website http://people.consolidated.net/cargo...od_sealup.html and found this:

IMPORTANT: SEAL – UP WILL CLOG COOLING SYSTEM IF ANTIFREEZE IS PRESENT.

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    1. Drain and flush cooling system.
    2. Fill radiator with water, replace radiator cap, idle engine until normal operating temperature is achieved.
    3. With engine running, carefully remove radiator cap and add water to cover radiator core.
    4. Shake SEAL – UP and pour into radiator. (Pour into cooling system only.)
    5. Replace radiator cap and idle until leak stops (20 minutes minimum).
    6. Stop engine, carefully remove radiator cap and open drain plugs.
    7. Allow engine to sit for 12 hours (minimum 4 hours).
    8. Flush remainder of SEAL – UP and water from engine.
    9. Refill cooling system with proper mixture of water and coolant.
    Note para. 7.

I suspect that may be to depressurise the system so I may be OK. I may need to do it again.

Oh, I've sent an email to the Aust manufacturer and suggested they put these instruction on their website.

    Thanks Scott, much appreciated.

I checked it when I got to work about 1/2 hour ago and there's been no more leakage.

I flushed the heater with a garden hose, perhaps with too much pressure although I didn't think I had it that high.

I don't want to clog up a radiator. I use glycol coolant. I've asked the manufacturer if the sealant is comaptible with OAT coolants.
