The Peel River is a little dry at the moment but the gold will still be there and some nice camping spots in the area eg Chaffey Dam or Sheba Dams at Hanging Rock. Plenty of forest area to drive around as well.

Thanks for that - but where is Nundle? Showing my ignorance here, but never heard of any of these places. How far are they from Sydney?

    Thanks again

Sounds great! How long would it take to get there? Would it be a long weekend trip?

It appears i am being ignored. If you havent already done it Panda there are heaps of gold mining stuff to do around Hill End and Sofala, and heaps of 4wding to do along the way. Matt

    Sorry Ace, missed your post.

Thanks for the info. Sofala sounds good. We haven't been up to Hill End for well over 10 years now. I'll have a look on Oziexplorer tonight.

    Thanks Dobbo

Would be a bit far for a long weekend. Might have to wait till we've got a bit more time up our sleeves!

I didnt think you would ignore me panda, there is quite a bit to do out there and as i said there is also a gold mining museum with activities on Mt Panorama so maybe you could start there and head out to hill end from there. Matt

Thanks Mat - just had a quick look at Oziexplorer. Can you come up from Sunny Corner (Portland) up to Turon & do it that way? Any good tracks/camping?
