loooong weekend lots of heat, lots of smoke (lots of preparation work) and no actual fire (thank god)
the predicted winds never hit us so the fire stayed up in the hills and we were just drowned in smoke
we had few light breezes start up and the call go out immediate fire threat (that's when they pull out the dse dozers ect) but thankfully the breeze just died again (and the dozers came back)
I've never seen it so still for so long (a blessing for most)
we had the DSE graders in and cut heaps of breaks at the farm and my brother had the dozers in up at his house (up the hills) cutting breaks also (the dozers worked all night in the hills)
they started back burning about 1/2 a km from his house last night, the back burn fire was threatening to break the containment lines a few times (that had him worried) but appears all good (for now)
from early sat morning to late last night
800kms driving 25hrs hard work 2 hrs sleep and now I'm stuffed
with the current weather they say the big threat is off briagolong till Thursday
fingers crossed
thanks for all your good wishes
and a big thanks to all the firefighting personal who leave their own homes, family and property to help others
