That could explain the beautiful sunset last night. There was a great band of fire red and orange out that way in the middle of the sky.
Hello all,
For those who went on our chrissy trip, there are a few fires around where we were at the moment.

The high country is the driest I have ever seen it... and given that the rivers are barely flowing, and a hot summer is expected I don't imagine I will be going much over summer.![]()
Hopefully they can control these fires before some really hot northly weather sets in.
Was in Bright this weekend, had lots of lightning on Friday night, nows there's spot fires all over the place, very smokey
This is a symptom of the worsening drought as well as "climate change?" Normally the fire seasons start in the north (qld/nsw) and move progressively south, it would appear that the predictions of the whole of SE Aus coming into a fire season at once are true. There a literally fires all the way from Qld-SA. Some of them are very extensive - Pilliga fire (NSW) around the 80000Ha, Wollemi fire (NSW) around 70000Ha, Riverland fire SA @ 115000Ha coupled with all the fires in the NE Vic (that normally wouldn't be ready to burn until late Jan/Feb.
Unless we get some significant and well spaced rain things won't get any better.
