    geelong to port of melbourne

i now know i can get from brisbane to geelong by staying on the freeways and not need an e-toll

i next mission is to get from geelong to the port of melbourne to catch the spirit of tassie,

Q - do i need an e-toll for the most direct route or will i need a street directory to detour around the tolls, i'm guessing there may be some e-toll only roads

If you have a tag, use it. I did so using my NSW tag in Melbourne last year without any problems and I've never been billed on my toll charge account.

I drove from Brisbane to Melbourne to Geelong to Point Lonsdale to Port of Melbourne to catch the Spirit of Tassie in December 2004. I couldn't tell you the route I took but I can tell you I never paid a toll. I didn't even try to avoid tolls it just worked out that way.
I had an E-toll unit in the car anyway.

No toll gates to get from Geelong to Port Melbourne (Station Pier)

Straight up Princes Hwy , over the Westgate Bridge, Turn off at Kings Way turn off, follow the signs through South Melbourne and on into Port Melbourne. Too easy.
    Cheers

The attached route is 53.19 mins - and it is all main roads - but no tolls

    Most direct, and quickest.

If you give me the full departure address in Geelong (just the street name) - I'll be able to give you a totally accurate directction plan

The planning is via major routes - but avoids toll roads
