    They dont use nicknames for each other because they are far more civilised than we males, well thats what Deb just told me after asking the question. Then maybe do you think it could be because we have these mates longer than a woman has most friends ?????? this should get a bite, lol

    What about names conferred on ex-wives? Do these count as nick-names?

    I call my wife "Beautiful" or "Gorgeous" - seriously - and I've been married for over 36 years. If it's not one of these, it is her full name, Elisabeth, not Libby, or Beth, or Lis, or Betty, etc.

    I've never heard her call any friend by a nickname. None of my 6 sisters have nicknames as far as I'm aware. Wait. I lie. My twin has always been called "Blossom" by my parents. I won't tell you what my parents called me. My work colleagues gave me a very un-PC name over 40 years ago and they still call me by that name. (It's funny how you can still be mates with blokes after 40+ years).

    It was after we'd been out for a p***-up and had a group photo taken (we were 2nd Year trainees (apprentices) at the time). I'd been working for a concreter mate over the summer holidays so I had a really dark tan (I have olive skin). In the photo I was quite dark compared to everyone else.

    When one of my colleagues took the photo home, his old man said "Who's the Boong?" (Can you imagine how people react these days when I'm called that? )

    I have a friend called Cate, but she is mostly known as Buzz or the Buzzard. I know a girl called Jess who is often called DC (Drunk Chick, she calls herself that).

    My wife and her friend just about have a nickname to everyone they know, its hard to keep up with who is who. Some of the names are B1 and B2, slapper, happy sacks and even horse teeth. When they use these names I get totally lost in the conversation. I wonder how they remember them all.

    i dont know if they have nick names.....but i rarely use their proper names.....
    i got a habit of giving them nicknames....

    my wife = mad
    my sister = granny
    other sister = fuzz
    daughter = missy
    son = junior

    i could also give you the nicknames i gave to some of my staff at work if you like.....

    A lot of women are too temperamental to use them, or to spineless to use them to the persons face, there for they wouldn't get used as much as the men.

    For instance, here are a few names of a few of my mates, could you imagine women using these for eachother

    1. The Gimp (shortish)
    2. Fathead
    3. CG (he was 3/4 wog)
    4. The Predator (just plain ugly as sin)
    5. Dalmation (not very politically correct but he was of mixed decent)
    6. The horse (obvious reasons really)
    These are all names based on a physical characteristic, women just wouldn't do this and still be mates with eachother

    I knew of a women known as the hot dog queen but thats a different story alltogether.
