Bit of a shock (warning- proud parent story)

I'm busting to tell someone but I've been sworn to secrecy till Monday. Posting here won't count will it?

Daughter has just sat HSC. Daughter is away with friends in party mode and has not been answering her mobile for a bit. We get "urgent" phone calls over the weekend and today from Board of Studies wanting to contact her. "It's nothing bad" is all they will tell us. Finally get in touch with daughter to get in touch with B.O.S. and to ring us back and tell us what the hell is going on.
    Daughter rings us back.
They wanted to invite her, and make sure she would be available, for a special ceremony on Monday because (in one of her subjects) she
    topped the State!

    Onya Dave.
My boy is also a brainiac, scored the excellence award for year7 last week.In the walnar tests, wich is suposed to rank all the kids in the state, done in year3 and year7 his point on the graph for maths english spelling and reading is so far ahead of the state average its a joke. There has to be alot of very average kids out there OR VERY AVERAGE TEACHERS.
My boy is very bored with school all to easy, credit to the local teachers they have managed to focus his mind.
Mind you he was in trouble in year four for not showing his workings in 2 and 3 figure multiplication, they thought he was cheating when he said I did it in my head, got him up in front of the class to prove himself on the whiteboard. He kicked **** and was allowed not to show his workings in the future!!!!!

That is really good, it's nice when the children do something for themselves - and feel good aout it.

Give her our congrats, when you tell her you told the world (well the members of AULRO) before you were meant to

    Congrats!

I'm not sure if they still have it, but when I finished High School I was a bit of a smarty and got what they called the "Australian Students Prize". Basically it's award to the top 500 students nationwide by the Fed Govt, and as well as a flashy certificate it included $2000 cash. That was in 94, so it may have changed, but if it still exists she may be up for something like that ...
