Agreed. The Japanese show was a bit of fun. Trust the bloody yanks to get it all screwed up. As for an American Land Rover? I just traded a 79 F100 for a 79 S2a 109 PV. 500 HP down to 58 HP, and the landy can do things that Fud just would not even look at. Love my odd little S2a. regards shorty943.

79 2a? Either the year or the model is wrong - if it is 79 its a S3, or if its an S2a its not 79! Perhaps 69?

    PS What's Iron Chef?

Thanks - I suspected from the context it was something like that. I'm afraid that I don't watch any cooking shows, except by accident!

I beg to differ - the American voice overs on the Japanese show are a CACK! I often find myself watching it over dinner on a Saturday night and damn nearly end up spitting my food out with laughter.

Chaiman Kaga is hilarious and why he chooses to eat a whole, raw capsicum in the opening credits is something I will never understand. Judging by the look on his face, he didn't understand it either.

I speak Japanese a bit so some of the translations are really funny. There are an awful lot of un-translatable colloquialisms in Japanese and listening to the ridiculous American English attempts is priceless. The selection of dishes is also incredible, especially to a western palate.

I want to see Jamie Oliver vs Iron Chef French Hiroyuki Sakai using something like truffles! That would be a fantastic battle.

I'm with you - the Japanese made show with the yank voiceovers had that special something. However the new American made copy currently showing doesn't have any of the atmosphere of the Jap one. I heard it has already been axed in the US.

SBS had some of the the best viewing this year for my money - Mythbusters on Monday and Iron Chef on Saturday.
