Glad to hear no major damage and hopefully nothing was in the roof rack at the time?
Had some fun today, tomorrow got to go get my roofrack. Had just turned onto the blacktop from dirt, shift into second gear, look in mirror, big red Kenworth hammering up the hill. pulled over to the verge to let him pass safely, bang, bloody great mallee trunk took my roofrack off. That tree will never attack another vehicle again. Kid's fist size dent in front left corner of roof, roofrack on ground astern, tree ripped out of ground, Landy did not even shrug. Damn tough little things aren't they.

Hope the mounts are ok.
Every thing just fine thanks George, little dent in roof, one bent bar on rack, chucked it in the Landlords trailer this morning. One day I might even rip out the hood liner and beat the dent out, or not. These little battle scars never have worried me, badge of honour etc, wot wot wot ! Tree is totalled though, ripped it right out of the ground.

a really chuffed landy driver.

I'm a bit bemused, why did you pull out in front of the Kenworth in the first place? Didn't you see him coming?

He was around the corner out of sight. Only came into view exiting the corner as I was shifting into 2nd, climbing the hill. Not a vehicle in sight in either direction when I pulled up at the cross road. That is my only niggle with the Landy, No damn acceleration if you really need it.Originally Posted by AlanH
Like a lot of rigs, I suspect he may have been a little over the dollar as they call it. They over gear the diff, claiming to fit low profile rubber then fit standard tyres, makes for a dollar fifteen or so on a so called 100 speed limited rig.
But, I did not tell you this. DID I. Me 5 ft 6 inch them big and hairy.
Hope this eases your bemusement.

PS I learned this from a life long friend, a B Double driver himself. The second man in Oz to get his B Dub Mass Managed liscence, and not one red mark in 3 log books. Not a cowboy. A nut, but not a cowboy.

Not a thing mate. Being Ex Navy, I have this "issue" with what the Maritime Industry call "Top Hamper". Very dangerous, weight up high equals all fall down. In fact I had been considering removing the rack for everyday use anyhow. The question was settled for me quite easily considering. Thanks for your concern. Have a merry christmas. regards shorty.Originally Posted by drivesafe
PS, I like your comment on growing old. Can I put that on tee shirt?
