Thanks guys, i know of all the mak shift ones, like cardboard. bonnets, coreflute etc but was wondering if someone had made up some sort of plastic one like the ones you get at the snow that was available around here. Looks like a box it is. Matt

Matt,
A Boogie board with a HARD bottom, and slightly curved nose is the go.
Otherwise masonite with one smooth waxed size is next best.
Anything metallic is too dangerous, too heavy, too hot to carry around and generates too much heat.

Not sure about sand boarding but you can have a lot of fun with an upturned eh Holden bonnet and a Land Rover in a Mud pan the bonnet just heats up when there is no water.
I recall in the late 1980s people water skiing behind Toyota Land Cruisers at Kulgera 400 odd kays south of Alice Springs.
Great fun just need a bit of a flood and a road that has been graded into the land scape.
